This course will provide students with an understanding of the key concepts, principles and characteristics of databases, database management systems, data warehousing and Big Data, as well as the associated analytical and reporting tools for developing solutions to large-scale business problems. Students will develop conceptual and practical knowledge of database structures and systems, through the study of data modelling, relational design, query and programming languages and normalisation theory. The course will prepare students for future database challenges.
