  • If you wish to improve your English as fast as possible, you should listen AND read MORE. One way to motivate yourself to do this is to read / watch / listen to topics that you are really interested in

    This will help to keep you motivated to understand the new vocabulary and ideas. The following links are to different news websites, with various audio stories and videos as well as readings.

    DAILY NEWS AND TOPICS

    • You can "subscribe" to receive a podcast and get it delivered each week. All of the BBC's podcasts are free, and you can stop receiving the files at any time.

    • Asia Pacific brings you news and in-depth coverage of regional issues in Asia and the Pacific. Join Sen Lam each morning, Monday to Friday, on Radio Australia (transcripts are available).

    • Insight brings together surprising and unpredictable guests: people with first-hand experience of each show's issue as well as experts and those with strong opinions.

    • - free internet TV service of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, available within Australia. Programs are available for a limited time.

    • PBS is a U.S TV channel - you can watch shows for FREE e.g. Nature programs (click on Nature on the main page). There are also subtitles (click on the CC in the bottom right corner of the video screen).

    • Future Tense explores the social, cultural, political and economic faultlines arising from rapid change. The weekly half-hour program/podcast takes a critical look at new technologies, new approaches and new ways of thinking. From politics to social media to urban agriculture, any topic is possible!

      Every Sunday a new program is available, with transcript. Use the topics to start a conversation with classmates over coffee!

    • - investigative journalism at its finest, exploring the issues of the day and examining society in a lively on-the-road documentary style. Transcripts are available a few days after the broadcast.
